who are we?

walk brings together Brussels citizens and stakeholders to promote walking, both for leisure and day-to-day life. Our aim is to build a pedestrian dynamic across the entire Brussels-Capital Region. walk is calling on all thos who walk in Brussels.
Together, let’s make pedestrian voices heard.

who are we

Many people dream of a city in which it is pleasant to walk. A city where pedestrians are visible and active, both in the streets and public spaces, and in the social and political debate. This is what many actors are working towards.

walk is the brainchild of the Tous à Pied and Trage Wegen non-profits, which are both actively involved in pedestrian policy and walking in Belgium.

vision & history

vision & history

In 2020, the project to bolster the pedestrian dynamic in the Brussels-Capital Region began to take shape and proposed a long-term vision to federate the initiatives already in place, defend the interests of walking and the rights of pedestrians and promote walking and its benefits.

The ambitious project would take shape in 2021 with the creation of the walk platform, the publication of the association's manifesto and the gathering together of a series of Brussels actors around walking, be it for leisure or utilitarian.

We aim to empower pedestrian voices and facilitate a network of organisations, experts and advocates around walking and pedestrians.

walk will act as a point of contact, an information centre and a forum for questions, concerns and initiatives related to walking and pedestrians in the Brussels-Capital Region.

We will continue to study pedestrian behaviour and raise awareness of the benefits of walking.

At walk, we strive to defend, support, stimulate and implement walking and pedestrian-friendly policy, in areas such as mobility, public spaces, urban planning, road safety, health, ecology, sport, leisure and culture...

The statuts of walk are available in French or Dutch.
